Mrs. Higgins
My name is Sarah Higgins, and I have worked as a Teacher of the Deaf for 12 years. I received my bachelor's degree in Deaf Education from Kent State University in Ohio in 2009. I taught 1st-5th grade DHH self-contained classes in Nashua, New Hampshire for 5 years, then moved to Northern Virginia, where I provided K-12 itinerant DHH teaching services for 4 years. I moved back home to the Chicago area in 2018 to be closer to family, and am currently in my 3rd year teaching here at Ray Elementary.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends, my spouse, and my pet cat, Princess, watching independent films, and playing LOTS and LOTS of board games! Documentaries are my favorite film genre because they allow me to learn more about other people, cultures, topics, etc. that I normally don't have everyday exposure to.
